In Forests is a series of paintings created in wildland forests, where I work for hours, days, or weeks at a time. I work with materials that I can carry most anywhere: ink, pencil, watercolor, and gouache on paper. I use twigs dipped in ink, local stream and sea water, and allow fungi, soil, leaves, seaweed, sap, or bark to stain my paper. Each work focuses on a wild species, a habitat, a moment.
