Naupaka (Together)
This book was written, drawn and painted with brushes, pens, and found twigs on the islands of Kauai and Hawaii. I worked in sunshine and rain at the water’s edge, where the native Hawaiian plant, Naupaka, is found. It is dedicated to my Mother, and was made during the last months of her life. Hand-lettered text about family, life, death, love, and mystery appear and disappear within the imagery.
